Start With Why

Entrepreneurs who know their why and how to wield it have a tremendous opportunity to be a force for good. They are the ones who keep our society in a healthy tension by challenging the rest of us with what's possible. They're messy and sometimes scatterbrained, but as the leading edge, they are daily redefining the very fabric of our lives, the many landscapes of our marketplace. They don't let rules and the repercussions for breaking them, get them down; instead they persevere, and we're all better for it whether we voice our appreciation for them or not. Their stories are the ones we all want to be a part of. With my skill set, I help them stay organized so they can devote more time and energy to do what only they can do. And, in turn, they enable me to accomplish my own dreams.
I dream to be a present husband and dad throughout the day, not just with whatever remaining energy I have left at the end of it. I dream to be able to take my children to places that others their age only read about in the classroom. I dream to wield my gifts in a way where my family can more closely watch how I conduct myself -- the decisions I make and why, the paths I choose to follow or not, the priorities I wrestle with as life presses on. I dream to leave my children's children a legacy they can build on and take so much further than where I left off. I dream to be a story that proves entrepreneurs can have both a thriving business and a thriving family.
And at the end of my life, even though it may not look like what I think it should in my finite mind, I dream to testify of the God that was behind it all, leading me through each and every turn. Because, after all, it was Him who gave me these dreams in the first place.
